... so I accept the offer ![]()
Yahoo! is now offering users a custom Sign-in Seal in an effort to help protect us from phishing sites whenever we login to our Yahoo! services... I think it's a great step
I've seen some excellent Phishing attempts and the idea of having a easy to recognise image of my own choosing is ideal for me... especially as first thing in the morning I'm awful slow on the uptake
... in fact to be completely straight up I'm dead slack when it comes to routine tasks like logging into accounts online which can be pretty ho hum... signing into Yahoo! Mail and my Account services is something I've been doing years now... in fact like most, I can do it with my eyes closed... which isn't a particularly bright thing to do... so I trotted along to make myself a Yahoo! custom Sign-in Seal to cover my bum...
The GUI is dead easy.. thank the gods because my coffee intake is a tad low at the moment
.... I selected to Upload an Image... you can also select a text seal though if you wish.... and I selected a white background.. plain and simple
The image upload had me somewhat perplexed as it didn't give the minimum dimensions, just a hint that you could upload any .jpeg, .jpg or .gif file up to 2MB with a tip that I should select a closeup that would still look aok small... but how small? ![]()
I grabbed a random image file from my computer.... wackyb_logo.gif .. shown to the right
...
which weighs in a mere 20kb and carries the dimensions 220pxx230px. I used browse and navigated my way to it's location on my computer, hit Upload and then Preview... to be honest I wasn't at all hopeful.. but a few seconds later I was pleasantly surprised ![]()
I opted to Save this Seal and I was reminded... by a pop-up window... that I would only be protected.. well notified by appearance... by my custom seal on this computer only... you see the sign-in seal only works per computer not per account.. which for me is great as I have quite a few Yahoo! ID's and it would take an awful lot of time to "seal" them all.
With regard to my notebook, Mac and other computer it would be no big deal to create a seal for them.. in fact using the wizard was quite cool in that it's not complicated, takes but a few seconds and no brain function is required.. right up my alley
I then trotted off to test drive my custom seal...
I headed to my general Yahoo! Log-in @ https://login.yahoo.com/ and there is was....
next port of call wasYahoo! Photos @ http://photos.yahoo.com and there it was again...
the off to Yahoo! Mail @ http://mail.yahoo.com... I was totally impressed... still am ![]()
I think it's great... fantastic even
It takes hardly any time to setup, you can select your own image which is just the best as it allows for easy recognition and it's a great way to protect your Yahoo! ID... there is really is no excuse not to get yourself a custom seal ![]()
