geek I greatly dislike upgrading...

BBPixel offers a great bridge between Joomla and vBulletin...in fact I'd much rather spoon out my eyeballs... but these days it all seems to be part and par of running a CMS or forum... basically anything you run on your own server. I use to enjoy the upgrades as more often than not they would come with new twiddly bits to explore but these days the twiddly bits come a little thinner on the ground and mostly the upgrade is forced due to security issues and they are packaged with bug fixes... it all becomes pretty ho hum, the stress is still there but instead of twiddle excitement with a view to do some serious plonking the end result is either pure relief (that for a change) it went ok or a flat out panic attack trying to work out what went wrong and at which point... peace and harmony © Mazeguy is required at all times... it's a dang shame I lack both © Mazeguy

I have to say that these days it's a tad less stressful due to our switch from dialup to broadband so everything uploads to the server a lot faster, vital for stress levels because as I tap away doing this, out the corner of my eye I'm watching WS FTP Pro chugging its way through the latest vBulletin release v3.6.0 (from v3.5.4...I missed, on purpose the upgrade to 3.5.5) which just tops 9 MB, once that is complete I need to upgrade our BBPixel jvbPlugin upgrade version for vBulletin 3.6 and Joomla v1.0.10. BBPixel is a godsend... it's made my life so much easier... bless their wee cotton socks for providing the service they do and the bridge that ties together the Joomla and vBulletin login, members list etc © Mazeguy

I've done a couple of vBulletin upgrades already, just yesterday I applied it to the StickerCam.com forum and thankfully all went smoothly, the only minor peeve is the typical template changes which means plonking is required to put back the custom look and feel... so as per the norm it was no surpise that the WackyB.co.nz forum had dropped it's bottom.. to be precise it's "footer" which is a bottom © Mazeguy and required a new one... oh how I wish human "footers" were as easy to replace © Mazeguy

Thankfully I'd upgraded WackyB.co.nz to Joomla v1.0.10 a few weeks back so that was one less thing to do, I eventually.. 3 hours later © Mazeguy ...got through the vBulletin upgrade and template changes, next was the BBPixel jvbPlugin upgrade...

I went about checking the readme documentation, yes I'm one of the few and far between ppl that actually do read them © Mazeguy ...and on double checking the old and new files I thought I best swing up to the server and remove the files no longer required... in doing so I found that all the VB files hadn't been replaced as I had assumed... and I'd already run the upgrade script... oh shirt © Mazeguy

It should have been a good indication at that point to go back to bed... but I didn't... I should have.. but I didn't.... I dang well persisted... the short of the long of it is this, and I will just re-iterate that BBPixel is still a godsend and the issue was nothing to do with their bridge... what consumed the next 4 hours of my life was entirely my doing so I'd like to stand up now and proclaim...

My Brain is OLD and TIRED..
bring back pigeons, pen & paper and smoke signals!

my error... couldn't have been more basic...
